Instructables

About

Instructables.com is a really cool DIY/Maker community where people can share … well … just about anything to do with making stuff.  The following projects are only a sampling of what I’ve published – you can check out my other projects here: Instructables Projects

Barbarian’s Sword

This is a sword I built based on one that I modeled quite some time ago.  It was fun to see it become “real” – you can read more about the process on the Instructables website here:  Make a Barbarian’s Sword

Fireplace Rebuild

When I moved into my house, the existing fireplace looked like something out of the Brady Bunch – so I took down all the flagstone and rebuilt the surround using marble, concrete, and White Oak:  Fireplace Surround

Mission Settles

I’ve always been a big fan of the Mission / Arts and Crafts style of furniture.  The simple lines and understated elegance have always appealed to me – so I decided to build some seating for my living room (4 pieces in all).  You can read the full instructable here: Mission Settle

Carbon Fiber Tablet Holder

What can I say?  I’m lazy sometimes – lol.  I was looking for a small project to get my feet wet working with vacuum bagging and carbon fiber, so this design seemed like a good fit.  After having the tablet holder for some time now, I can’t imagine not having it – it makes the Kindle really nice to use.  Build a Kindle Kradle

Custom Rifle Stock

I acquired an odd-ish rifle made by Ishmash in Russia.  The rifle is a “toggle-bolt” style and has some great features (accuracy being one of them) but the original stock was crude and uncomfortable – so I decided to build a custom one based on the Sako TRG.  Build a Custom Stock

Hunter Resin Kit

I’d been wanting to learn mold-making and casting for a while, so, I thought a good project would be to take a CG character and create a “real” version using a combination of 3D printing and traditional molding / casting techniques.  I’d never done any molding / casting before, so it was a great – albeit pricey – learning experience.  Hunter Resin Kit

Fine Art from Cardboard

While playing around with 123DMake, I wondered if it would be possible to build a “smooth” sculpture from a stack of cardboard profiles – this is the result:  Fine Art From Cardboard
